Anchored Shoring Systems

Ground Anchoring is a proven and highly effective technique used to provide lateral stability to retaining structures and deep excavations. By transferring loads into stable soil or rock strata, ground anchors help control wall movement, improve safety, and facilitate the construction of deep basements, retaining walls, and underground structures.

Anchors are typically installed by drilling into the ground, after which they are expanded at the embedded end. This expansion is achieved either mechanically or, more commonly, by injecting pressurized grout, forming a bulb that bonds with the surrounding soil.

Types of Ground Anchoring Systems

Anchored shoring systems are broadly classified into:

Stressed Anchors (Tiebacks)
Stressed anchors consist of high-strength steel strands or bars inserted into drilled holes and secured with grout. The anchors are then pre-stressed to actively resist lateral earth pressures and provide immediate structural support.
Passive Anchors (Tie Rods)
Passive anchors work in conjunction with retaining walls or anchor piles, providing resistance through their embedment and structural interaction with the surrounding soil and concrete elements.

Anchors are often used with gravity retaining walls, where one or multiple tiers of anchors provide additional lateral stability.
